“Some Horrible Madness”

Tyler R. Martin

From my little window, light no longer shines,
It once filtered through the shutters and the
thickness of the pines,
But now it's fled, and i’m cold and alone....
Some horrible madness has befallen my home.
And my rusty ford, the engine fails to turn,
Try to fill room with carbon but the fuel it will not burn…
Breathing normal air and I'm so all alone….
Some horrible madness has befallen my home.
My terrier lies on the floor, he's old and grey like me,
He avoids my very presence and he's kinder to his fleas.
My world is very empty and I'm so alone….
Some horrible madness has befallen my home.
My television flickers and the radio won't work,
My ice box always stays warm with this funny little quirk,
My world is in ruins and I'm so alone….
Some horrible madness has befallen my home.
Meat and bread to me taste of gasoline,
And clear cold water refuses to taste clean,
Shedding pounds in my room here all alone...
Some horrible madness has befallen my home.
My rope is always breaking, no matter what I buy,
And sometimes the beam splinters and I can not figure why.
Living with the rope burn, here all alone....
Some horrible madness has befallen my home.
